Notes on Buddhist teachings in Oulu by Lama Chödrak, July of 2010

(The teachings were based on Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's Books, http://www.tricycle.com/dharma-talk/the-aim-attention?page=0,0&offer=dharma)

Body speech and mind
How we experience things the mind gives the joy or suffering afterwards.
Embrace the disturbing emotion to become free.
While looking to the emotion helps not to identify with the emotion
Emotions shouldn't be boss or enemy, make them friends, be aware of them, mindfulness, just to get the naked experience.
The mind express as an emotion and its an energy so it can be transformed to a more positive creative way.
The mind decides whether the experience is good or bad / preconception.
For cure the reason has to be recognized.
2 types of suffering exist natural and self-created.
Putting label on something is self-created suffering.
Everything is changing.
What is our true nature?
Emptiness = limitless possibility, void, unlimited possibility to appear and change and disappear

Mind can't be seen. Existing and not existing, both and none, the mind is beyond all of them.
Time is also not solid, it is also changing, time is not real.
Open mind is important, one businessman killed himself after bankruptcy cause his mind become narrow, he hasn't seen any other possibilities, the others mind was more open, he had new plans already.
8 consciousnesses 5 senses have one each, 6 consciousness is labeling, 7 consciousness is "I", 8th is the memory.
Pain meditation, look at the sensation in mind.
Create space don't take the crap from others.

Empathy, has two aspects loving kindness, compassion

Bodhichitta
Starting with own-self.
Immeasurable loving kindness compassion.
Relative bodhichitta, bringing up everybody to enlightenment level

Paramita
1. Generosity (Ghimpa)
2. Discipline
3. Patience
4. Diligance, enthusiasm
5. Meditation, firm mind
6. Wisdom (Jeshi)

Generosity: buddha dharma sangha, sentient beings
Material, protection, dharma
Offering makes the connection and gathers merit
Offerings should be pure
Giving the dharma

Discipline
-keeping away from negative actions

Motivation is the key-factor.

Diligence, commitment with practice, do your duties, respect your own capabilities.

Wisdom, understanding the teachings

Obstacles of manifestation of buddha nature
* Self judgement, belittle oneself, low self esteem
* others are less then you, lack of empathy in other
- extreme of judgement
* seeing the untruth as truth
* seeing the truth as untruth
* myth of me, its all about me
Change them to breakthrough

Become aware of the awareness

Don't work with the strongest emotions, start with smaller one

Look back to the main emotions, what is giving power to the strong emotions.

When focus is lost and disgust arise the practice should be stopped.
When the practice is fantastic then stop too.

After a while the emotion will lift up the awareness, if it is practice, such as anger or loneliness.
