Grandmas Pernik
There is one thing between Heaven and Earth which is better than grandmas Pernik filled with blueberry jam, the grandmas Pernik filled with blueberry jam and chocolate on the top.
I was asked what do I miss from Czech Republic, my answer was of course grandmas Pernik. The visitors from CR were so kind to make a Pernik for me and it was tending to grandmas Pernik (of course grandmas Pernik can not be reached).
Pernik with mug method
Ingredients:
2 mug wheat flour
1 mug rye flour
1 mug sugar
2 spoon of cacao
1/2 mug of nuts or oat flakes

Process:
1. Mix together all the ingredients
2. Bake it on 180c
3. Enjoy with blueberry jam

Way of learning
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caleb_Gattegno
"Caleb Gattegno’s pedagogical approach is characterised by several radical propositions based on the minute observation of human learning in many and varied situations. This is a brief description of three of these propositions.
First, Gattegno noticed that there is an “energy budget” for learning. Human beings have a highly developed sense of the economics of their own energy and are very sensitive to the cost involved in using it. It is therefore reasonable to seek ways of learning which are “cheap” in terms of the amount of energy spent. He proposed a unit of effort in learning elementary maths, which he called the ogden. This is similar to the modern notion of computational complexity.
Second, Gattegno considers that only awareness is educable in human beings and therefore proposes pedagogical procedures based on awareness.
Third, he suggests that for pedagogical actions to be effective, teaching should be subordinated to learning."

Memento mori
The autumn has come, the leafs are getting rusty, time to think about mortality. Once I was told that there were monks who greeted each other 'Memento mori' ( Remember that you will die ), so I was searching to verify this information on the net.

(Looks like the guy on the left was killed by Zorro. ;-) )

What about "Memento mori et memento amor" ( Remember death and remember love) ? What does it mean? Love without grasping? That there is new beginning? Time to meditate and experience...

Who let the wolfs out? (Trekking in Seitseminen NP)
1st day:
The wild animal inside of me feels free again, like fish thrown back to the water. With wild I don't mean something without control or bestial, I mean something natural, something what is deep inside, something original. To get back for a while where part of me belongs, to the forest, to the lake, to the vast space and to the night sky filled with stars.
We have been walking for 20km in an amazing pine forest, crossing some streams and walk beside some lakes. The sun was shining and the sky was blue. The guys who I was with are pretty cool, one of them is an environment and trekking specialist (http://www.hikinginfinland.blogspot.com/) and the other one is vipassana meditation practitioner. Later a suomelainen mushroom and trek and cooking expert joined our team. We stayed in a small wooden house, but I slept outside, it was too warm inside.

2nd day:
The dawn at the lake was breathtaking, how the sun came from the mist...

We stopped at the Seitseminen Visitors Centre and I saw amazing pictures from Hannu Ahonen book called Marjatta (http://hannuahonen.com/). That night we stayed in a laavu. We were sitting around the fire, "just like the sex in the city girls" ;-). We also picked lots of different kind of mushrooms, like black trumpets and suppis.

They were really tasty in the cheese soup. I learnt about the Finnish mushroom snobism, big ones are just for export, the small ones are tasty and that the refugees from Karelia thought Finns to pick mushrooms.
3rd day:
We finished our 61+-1km trek and got back to Tampere and later I continued to Oulu. Back to the city where the domesticated part of me can check the internet, write this blog and take shower and sleep in a bed. I felt tired, but full of amazing experiences. Big up and respect for organizing and for participating to guys who I joined!

Orthodox icon
"Icon-painting in Old Russia was a sacred profession."
"Tempera painting required expertise and high capacity for drawing, that could be achieved during the long years of apprenticeship. Icon-painting was a great creative work and icon-painters were specially prepared for performing "the deed of icon creating".
It was an act of communication with God and required spiritual and physical purification "… when writing a holy icon he touched the food only on Saturdays and Sundays, being restless day and night. He spent nights in wakefulness, praying and obeisance. At daytime he devoted himself to icon-painting with humility, non-possessiveness, purity, patience, fast, love, and God-thinking.""

Nina Simone-I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free
I wish I knew how
It would feel to be free
I wish I could break
All the chains holding me
I wish I could say
All the things that I should say
Say 'em loud say 'em clear
For the whole round world to hear
I wish I could share
All the love that's in my heart
Remove all the bars
That keep us apart
I wish you could know
What it means to be me
Then you'd see and agree
That every man should be free

Oh heart, calm down...
This is music version of a Hungarian poet Attila Jozsef's poem "Oh, szív nyugodj" (Oh, heart calm down).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SI7j_P50wg4&feature=related
I haven't found any English translation, but it is about wandering on snowy landscape, and about the illusion of love...
I wonder why we haven't learnt this in school...
